Diet to Increase Height - How to Maximize Your Height Potential Through What You Eat

Can what you eat make you taller? If you are still actively growing, you can structure your diet to increase height. However, if your growth plates have become inactive, nothing you eat will make you taller. In that case, your best bet is to exercise to increase height. But for those of you fortunate enough to still be growing, you can reach your maximum height potential by choosing the right diet.

First, what does the right diet look like? A good diet is one that is balanced. It contains the proper mix of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. All three of these basic nutrients are essential to growth. A good ratio to shoot for in all your meals is 40% carb, 40% protein, and 20% fat. For example, a good meal would be grilled chicken, brown rice, and veggies sauteed in olive oil.

Next, you will want to make sure you get enough of certain nutrients necessary for bone development. Almost 75% of teenagers do not get enough of these. The three nutrients your body needs the most are calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D. You can get these through dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and nuts. You can also take a supplement, but your body will absorb these nutrients better through food.

On the other hand, there are certain foods you want to avoid. For example, you will want to stay away from soda. Soda contains phosphorous, which in large amounts can keep your body from using calcium. Cutting soda will enable your body to better process the calcium that you do eat.
