The author of the article suggests that taking this type of weight loss tablet with a fatty meal in fact increases it's effects. In other words, if the meal was quite heavily made up of fat the bulk of that fat along with the excess calories would pass right through the system. Rather like a laxative except that most of what was eliminated would be fat and not essential nutrition. Call me naive, call me stupid, but that steak pudding was staring me in the face and it sure looked good. What harm would it do, I thought.

At 7.0'clock in the evening I sat down with my meal of steak pudding and a small portion of chips washed down with a glass of orange and a slimming pill. As the evening wore on I kept my eye on the clock waiting for something to happen but by bedtime I felt no different from usual which was a little disappointing. I wasn't unduly worried about being 'caught short' during the night as I had an en suite bathroom so off I went to bed thinking that the experiment had been a failure. Boy was I mistaken.

It was about midnight when the discomfort began. My stomach felt hard and heavy, like I'd swallowed a lead balloon. I tossed and turned for another hour or so until suddenly the urge to get to the bathroom - quickly- hit me. At first I was feeling rather relieved and I have to admit, quite smug. Maybe I had found the answer after all. Perhaps pies, cakes and all that heavenly stodge I'd long since left behind could be back in my life once more. But as the time ticked on and I was unable to leave the bathroom I began to feel a little less pleased with myself. After 20 minutes I finally dared to return to bed but as I lay down my stomach felt even worse than before. It was heavy and sore and churned like a cement mixer. For another couple of hours I tried to sleep but by around 3 o'clock I was suddenly hit with an overwhelming feeling of nausea. I launched myself out of bed and dashed back into the bathroom.

Now if you've never experienced projectile vomiting, be warned, it can be pretty ferocious and alarming. And while I couldn't say for sure the exact volume of food I'd consumed earlier that evening, I'm convinced three times more came out than ever went in. After throwing up what seemed like a week's worth of food the spasms subsided and I was eventually able to return to bed, shaken and exhausted. In the morning I got up feeling wretched. I felt weak and sick, I couldn't eat and still didn't dare venture too far from the bathroom. It took another day before I finally felt normal again.

I weighed myself a couple of days later. I was three pounds lighter - yeah! Was it worth it? Like hell it was. It was one of the most horrendous experiences I've ever had. So would I do it again? Absolutely no way.

If you can handle the nausea, diarrhoea and projectile vomiting you'll definitely be able to eat fatty junk and lose weight. But be warned, if you're planning on embarking on this crazy method of dieting you're going to feel down right awful and I suspect the side effects will eventually be enough to put you off those tempting pastries, burgers and chips for life.

Ultimately there are no short cuts to dieting and maintaining a healthy weight. Eating well balanced meals and enjoying occasional treats (in moderation) has and always will be the only sensible answer. For those people who need extra help, and slimming pills can play a role in this, the supervision of a doctor is essential to avoid such alarming side effects.

The Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital Diet has been around for decades under a variety of names, including the Sacred Heart Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, the Cleveland Clinic Diet, and the Spokane Heart Diet. Although no institution lays claim to being its source, the details of this meal plan have been widely circulated and, in some instances, even recommended by medical professionals. There are claims that users can lose up to 10 lbs in a week by following the steps described here.

However, dieters are cautioned to consult their medical advisers before using this diet.

The main component of the plan is vegetable SOUP. You are required to make a pot of soup with the ingredients described here. You can have as much of the soup as you like over a period of seven days, along with a few other items that are mentioned below.

SOUP CONTENTS:

* One or two cans of stewed tomatoes.
* One large can of beef broth (without fat)
* Three or more large green onions
* One packet/can of chicken noodle soup (similar to Lipton Soup mix)

Seasoning: Pepper, salt, parsley, curry, bouillon, and Worcestershire sauce are permitted.

DRINKS:

No alcohol during the seven days of the diet. Allow at least half a day after finishing it before consuming any alcohol.

DAILY PLAN

Day 1: Eat any fruit except bananas. Watermelon and Cantaloupes are recommended as they have fewer calories than most other fruits. Food today consists of fruit and soup only.

Day 2: Eat plenty of veggies today, whether cooked, raw or canned. Green leafy veggies are preferred. Try to avoid corn, peas and dry beans. No fruits today. As much soup as you want. At dinnertime, a baked potato with butter is allowed as a treat.

Progress Report: If you haven't cheated, you will probably find that you are about 5 lbs lighter at this stage. If you find that your bowel movements have changed, eat a cup of bran or other high fiber food.

Day 4: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much skim milk as you want. Also be sure to have at least one serving of the soup. Your body now needs the potassium, carbohydrates, proteins and calcium contained in the bananas and skim milk.

Day 5: Eat 10 to 20 oz of beef (or non-fried, skinless chicken) and up to 6 tomatoes, as well as at least one serving of soup.

Day 6: Eat beef (or non-fried, skinless chicken) and veggies - as much as you like, especially green leafy veggies. At least one serving of soup.

Day 7: Have plenty of soup. Brown rice, veggies and unsweetened fruit juice allowed. Cooked veggies may be added to your rice, if you like.

Broiled fish may be substituted for the beef on one day.

Progress Report: By this stage, at least 10 lbs of weight should have been lost.

Leopard geckos are a joy for their owners and more experienced or studious owners have taken great joy in breeding the interesting creatures. For instance there are striped and albino leopard geckos versus the standard yellowish with brown spots from whence they get their name.

There's a lot to understand about breeding if you hope to have a leopard gecko baby or two. To start, a male can mate with up to 3 females a day. So by this reasoning, if you've got a male in with some females, you have a chance at improving results, more difference in their colours, or just more geckos. You also need to be careful to never mix male geckos in a cage, as they can fight to the death.

Leopard geckos become active in a sexual sense at anywhere from nine months to a year old, and once they are to that point, nature will take over and they will begin reproducing. Once they are to that point, you will have to supply the female with a laying box. After the eggs are laid, you'll have to do some work at incubating them. For instance, those incubate at 80 degrees Fahrenheit will be often female, while incubating them at 87 to 90 degrees will more frequently than not be male. In this manner you have control of your colony of leopard geckos. Keeping the temperature in the middle, around 85 degrees will give you a mixed number between the two.

You can say when the eggs are prepared as they are going to become wet looking almost as if they're perspiring.
