Wellness Defined

Wellness Defined

Wellness is a relative term. Everyone is on their own path at their own pace. Wellness for one person may be eating a raw food diet, doing yoga everyday, and going on a spiritual retreat. For another, it may be to quit smoking and be more present with their children. We all have an area or more that is a little (or a lot) out of balance. Balance is not a static condition. Energy is not static. We are energetic beings and as we move through our days, months, and years, this energy is always shifting.

Remember that wherever you are on your journey is where you need to be. You are there because of choices and those choices have consequences. If you are ready to move along the path, there are resources to help you along, help you choose a different course, and keep you accountable to those choices. Remember...wellness is a CHOICE.

Wellness is looking at the person as a whole. It consists of body, mind, emotions, spirit, and environment. The first step to any wellness program is self evaluation.

Where are you now, where to you want to be, and what steps are you willing to take right now to get there? It is never too late to take the steps. The steps also don't need to be big steps to make a difference. Every little step will make a big impact in the long run...if you consistently take them.

If one of your goals is to move more...start with marching in place during commercial breaks or walking around the block. Every step during the day adds up so you don't need to go out and walk 3 miles in one shot. If you want to improve your nutrition, make the commitment to add one healthy thing to your day. If you want to improve your relationships, write one card and thank a friend and tell them how grateful you are to them. Little things equal big change.

Sit with yourself and really look at where you are and make a commitment to change one thing right now. You will find it easier and easier to change other small things, and before you know it...you will have healthier habits for life.

A wellness coach can help you find your motivation and keep you accountable to your goals. They have the tools to teach you how to reduce stress in your life. A wellness coach will not tell you what you should and shouldn't be doing. We all know what we "should" be doing. A wellness coach will help you define what you are willing to do now to further your journey along the wellness path.
