The Truth About Low Carb Diets

The Truth About Low Carb Diets

"It's a new year, time to get on a diet"

With all these new diets coming out, it's hard to tell which ones are working and which ones are just plain bogus. This recent new diet, proclaimed "Low Carb Diet" is one where the dieter restricts the amount of carbohydrates consumed in his body. I'm here to tell you that, while with this diet you will lose weight, you shouldn't restrict carbs in your eating plan.

What's the truth about low carb diets?

First

Carbs are your body's main source of energy, that's right, and limiting the amount of carbs is like limiting the amount of gasoline you put in your car; it simply just doesn't work. Did you know that carbs are required for several functions of the body every day? The brain alone requires roughly 50 carbs every day for normal brain functionality. Most low carb diets only allow up to 30 grams of carbs per day, not even enough for the brain to operate at efficient levels.

"So what, I don't care, as long as I get thin"

Not only will you get thin, but your skin will get very pale, making you look like a vampire more and more as you continue your low carb solution. Coincidently, low carb diets make you feel very depressed, you always seem "Out of it." Low carb dieters tend to have splitting headaches all the time. Overall body strength decreases because muscles absolutely require carbohydrates to recover from every day living. If you plan on working out on a low carb diet, you'll find that it takes much longer to recover from an exercise and also realize that you aren't getting stronger. No, the substitution of consuming a lot more protein will not negate this effect.

Worst of all, you always, absolutely always feel hungry! Generally low carb dieters always ingest a lot more fat with the absence of carbohydrates.

"So who should be on low carb diets?"

To be blunt, only desperate people who need to shed pounds fast, but don't want any real health benefits for the future. Even still, I don't recommend people taking part in low carb dieting as there aren't any real rewards.

Now that you know the truth about low carb diets

Eat a healthy assortment of foods, exercise, and get plenty of rest in between and you'll be thinner before you know it, plus it's totally safe to do it that way.
