Simple Exercise Routines That Burn Calories

A few short ten minute exercises can help you burn calories, and you usually don't need any special equipment other than supportive shoes. Any dietitian or health consultant will tell you dieting isn't going to do very much to help you lose weight if you don't also exercise.

Eating a balanced healthy diet is a great start, and for most people saying no to that extra cookie or fizzy drink is easy, but what if you struggle? Well, ten minutes of exercise can burn 35 calories, and over a day, several short exercise sessions could be all you need to burn 200-400 calories over and above your normal activity.

Most government health departments and doctors recommend 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise every day, this doesn't mean you need to join the gym or even take up sport, in fact the best way to get the most from exercise is to enjoy your exercise, if that means walking around your neighborhood or using a treadmill in your bedroom, then go to it - your health is more important than fashion.

Going for a brisk walk is one of the easiest exercises you can do, simply walk out the front door and go around the block a couple of times, or go to your local park or high school track and walk around the perimeter. 10 minutes of brisk walking burns 35 calories, do that three times per day and there's over 100 calories right there. It doesn't sound like much, but in conjunction with a balanced diet can make the difference you need.

Of course you probably want to burn more calories, and you can, and best of all, other ten minute activities burn even more calories. For example 10 minutes of walking up stairs burns twice as many calories as a brisk walk and has the advantage of toning legs and buttocks, so burn calories and build muscles in one easy ten minute exercise.

If the stairs seem a daunting project, don't give up, join a dance group or turn on some music and dance for 10 minutes in your living room. It's fun and burns 65 calories, and did I mention it's fun! Dancing has the extra benefit in releasing lots of endorphins which make you feel great and give you a positive vibe for hours after.

However if you're really serious about burning calories during your ten minute exercise, use a treadmill will watching TV, or before you have your morning shower. an incredible 97 calories will be burned from ten minutes on a treadmill. Extend your treadmill exercise to 15 minutes and that small packet of corn chips you ate just disappeared.

Burning calories is easy, we just need to make 30 minutes of time free Monday to Friday, and with a healthy balanced diet you'll be burning calories, toning your muscles, and losing weight in no time.
