Nutrition - Are feeding yourself well. Whatever training program you follow will not create any good impact if your body lacks in basic building blocks. You need to have enough calorie, protein, minerals, vitamins and so on. You can go to any dietitian and get a diet chart for yourself.
If you are already in a low calorie diet to reduce fat and you are exercising to get build strong muscles, then please forget about building your muscles. If reducing the fats is more important, then do it first and then come back to build your muscles.
Rest - Getting adequate rest and sleep is as important as your workouts. Especially you should know that your growth happens when you are sleeping. During your workout micro-cracks are developed in your muscles.
These cracks are repaired during your sleep. If you do not have seven to eight hours of peaceful sleep then your muscle will not be recovered properly and doing further workout will not help you rather it will harm you.
Stress - Are you stressful due to some personal or professional reasons. I f you are under stress then your body generates hormones that has catabolic effect.
That is it breaks down your muscles rather than build it. So you must take care of source of your stress and see that you're distressed and happy before your start your muscle building program.
