Vitamins play an important role in facilitating growth and development of the body. These are organic substances necessary for several biochemical reactions that take place in the body. To make sure that these biochemical reactions don't make you suffer, it is advisable to get a sufficient intake of calcium in your diet.

Deficiency of vitamin and nutrients in the body leads to several deficiency related diseases. One can check the dietitian from time-to-time for intake of vitamins and vitamin supplements in case there is such a requirement.

Often doctors talk about balanced diets and it is not just for the sake of it or is insignificant. Balanced diet is the key to remain healthy.

Taking too much of vitamins is also not required as excessive intake of vitamin can be harmful. For instance, excess intake of vitamins may lead to hair loss, blurry vision, fatigue, headaches and pain in bones. As an advice, restricting your diet to specific delicacies will not be helpful in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Types of Vitamins

There are mainly two kinds of vitamins. They are Fat-Soluble and Water-soluble Vitamins. Vitamin A, D, E, W and K are the fat-soluble vitamins. They perform the function of regulators for certain metabolic activities.

On the other hand, water-soluble vitamins comprise of Vitamin C and B complex. They mainly perform the function of coenzymes.

Vitamin supplement play effective role in treating various other deficiencies in the body, such as disturbed absorption or increased requirement of minerals. If you want to prevent these deficiencies you must stick to the balanced diet. A proper balanced diet comprises of fruits, vegetables, bread, grains, meat and milk. Eating balanced diet is surely the best way to remain healthy and active.
