5 Signs of a Fad Diet - Spot a Fake in an Instant

We all have a penchant for something unique, something that sounds or looks tempting and popular. The problem with this attitude is that oftentimes, this something is not right. Take for instance the case of fad diets.

Upon hearing of a miracle method that has been recently produced (even without sufficient data to back its claims), we jump right at it, splurge our money and risk our health just to see that in the end, we were better off not trying the diet. To prevent any of these things from happening again, we are hoping that you would consider and mull over the suggestions and insights of this short article on the 5 signs of a fad diet. These are the following:

It makes you cut back on calories to proportions that are totally unlike your natural diet. The human body and its mechanisms with respect to diet and food are made in such a way that they cannot be changed, even perhaps by a million years of evolution. Thus, diets that force the body to starve or go for several days without food are nothing but shams. This is the first sign you MUST look for.

It replaces natural foods with sustenance. Now, this one is pure marketing. How else can manufacturers of pills, drugs, supplements and diet programs find more profit but to make their consumers live on nothing but their products! While some supplements are real and beneficial, most of them are next to being placebo.

It forces the person to stick to a short list of food or only to one type of sustenance. There is nothing wrong with this for the first few days, but since the body is built for all types of foods, it will need the proper sustenance.

It cuts out a certain food group. It totally wipes off the consumption of fat, sugar, carbs, or protein.

It encourages the replacement of real foods with so-called "natural" products which are actually full of synthetic materials. For marketing reasons already mentioned, some fad diet programs require the replacement of true foods with drinks and other products.
