Everyone decides as some stage in their life that enough is enough, and begins seeking help to lose the weight that they have managed to accumulate over the years. When doing so you will come across low to no carb diets and how great they are. What you won't hear about is that these diets will do you more harm than good!
Now, I'm not going to tell you what weight I had risen to when I sought help because (obviously) it's embarrassing to this day, but let's just say that I was a big boy! I still have a good amount of "excess baggage" to get rid of but since I stopped using low to no carb diets my size has plummeted. I began with an Atkins style diet and I did actually lose weight. The only problem was that it caused me to become irritable, to lose sleep and suffer headaches. All of which I had never experienced before I started the diet. To top that off, after a few months the weight crept back up again. If I had known these things would happen I would never have joined the program!!
A low to no carb diet excludes consumption of all carbohydrates and suggests fat as the main source of energy with sufficient protein. In doing so it causes the body to go into a state of ketosis (producing excess ketone bodies). By mainly eating animal source foods. Ketone bodies are three water-soluble compounds that are produced as by-products when fatty acids are broken down for energy in the liver and kidney.
When you practise these types of diets (there are many out there for you to waste money on) you will be required to minimize your consumption of fruit and vegetables and are told that they are heavily concentrated sources of carbohydrates, which in reality is false and therefore you will be robbing your body of important nutrients. Another requirement is to substantially lower your intake of fibre which (of course) results in constipation. Most advocates today now agree that fibre is a "good" carbohydrate and encourage a high-fibre diet.
With following low to no carb diets you need to supplement your body with quality vitamin and mineral products. Unfortunately you end up spending an absolute fortune on these! If I had been using the diet that I am on now I could have saved myself a shed load of hard earned cash. I have been using my current program for quite a while now and it has shown me that all the things that I originally thought were correct in losing weight were just plain wrong. With the proper information your eyes will be opened up as to what really works with healthy carbohydrates added into your diet. As I said before, my weight has plummeted and I feel great. I sleep better now than I ever have and to my relief I no longer get headaches or become irritable. There is absolutely no point in practising low to no carb diets. All you will do is cause harm to the way your body functions. My new diet shows me exactly the foods that my body needs to stay healthy, while losing the most weight I EVER have and in a shorter period of time.
