If you are planning to follow the common low calorie diets that are all over out there in magazines and on the internet, Don't. Before you do read what I have to say about it.
So many people have written on forums and in health mags that they went on this low calorie or that low fat diet and it didn't work for them. They just gave up and felt that weight loss is impossible.
The reason that it didn't work is because your body doesn't get the energy and nutrition that it needs from the food that you ate. You probably feel sick and tired all the time and you probably didn't have enough energy for even a little exercise. You don't even have enough energy to go to work .
To lose weight successfully you need to remember these two things:
1. Calories are not the enemies. A calorie is just a measure of energy 0f food. Your body runs on these energy bits and that is how it keeps your metabolism up. If you cut them down too drastically then your thyroid starts slowing down and in turn because it regulates a lot of the fat burning processes it affects all the other weight loss hormones and fat burning chemicals that regulate your body.
You need to avoid the empty calories that are in junk food. Food like cakes, doughnuts, and pastries, chips, cookies and a lot of fast foods like double cheeseburgers. Fast food is okay once in a while but over time and with constant eating out your belly starts to hang out.
You need to eat negative calorie foods which are your fruits and vegetables. This doesn't mean that there are no calories but that they make your body burn more calories than they provide in calories. It requires a lot to digest them and this gives calorie deficit which results in weight loss.
2.Weight training and building muscle is a must: Muscles burn calories just to maintain themselves. The more lean muscle tissue that you have the more fat burning your body does. Eating a lot of protein rich foods like chicken, turkey, fish and broccoli can provide a good food source for strong lean muscles. Eating protein rich foods keeps you full and you won't eat as much. Working out with weights is another way to increase lean muscle weight. This tears down the muscle and then when you sleep it rebuilds a stronger and heavier muscle as it repairs itself and thus this makes you leaner and burn fat all day long.
WHen you don't eat enough calories you do your body an injustice and it starts to literally eat the protein that it finds which is your muscle tissue and hence you waste away and the muscle is replaced with fat and then you weigh the same because your metabolism has slowed way down.
Most of these low calorie diets will only release water and lose muscles. You may think that you have lost lots of pounds but you still have the fat with you. Unless you lose the fat you can't become fit.
