Diabetes is a life-changing health condition that is a daily reality in the lives of many people. Simply put, a diabetic's body does not produce enough insulin, there causing an individual suffer from this disease. Some people who has been diagnosed with diabetes take a shot of insulin or make a blood test frequently to monitor their blood sugar level. It is like a death sentence, but it doesn't have to be. The great news is that, there is a cure for diabetes.

There are two type of diabetes, first one is called insulin dependent or juvenile diabetes. Type I diabetes affects mostly children or young adults. Parents may not be aware of the condition of their child until they get sick. However, parents should be aware of the symptoms such as overwhelming thirst does not go away, frequent or uncontrollable urination, weight loss or weight gain, fatigue, nausea and vomiting.

The other type of diabetes is called non-dependent diabetes. Adults make up the largest population with Type II diabetes. They have insulin resistance, which means that their bodies don't use insulin properly. The individual who develops Type II diabetes may display symptoms such as blurred vision, slow-healing infections, fatigue, frequent urination, overwhelming thirst and impotence in men.

Fortunately, there is a cure for diabetes that does not require expensive medication. Those people with diabetes can potentially decrease their need for medications and live full, productive lives by making healthful food choices and exercising regularly.

Healthy eating is a simple cure that anyone can do. It can have a major impact on how well you maintain normal blood sugar level.

The following are the simple steps on how you can prevent diabetes:

1. Eat a balanced meals with carbohydrates with at least 60% of calories in one meal. People with diabetes should go for a non-starchy variety of vegetables which are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber. Also be careful not to pump up the fat and calorie quotient with added butter, seasonings and cheesy sauces, as tempting as it may be. Olive oil is the best, one might be surprised how healthy and delicious it can be.

2. The Mediterranean diet is a healthy eating plan that must be followed. The more consistent your diet is, the steadier your blood sugar, and the healthier you'll be. One food which is extremely healthy for a diabetic person is a low-fat yoghurt. It provides protein and multiple vitamins that the body needs.

3. Talk to a doctor or dietitian about a sensible meal plan that you can stick to before starting a new diet. Discussed with them about the medication-free you are doing and the diet that you are following. Make a list of foods that you are eating so you can go though it with your physician.
